Charlie and myself recently popped down to Brighton for the weekend to explore the lanes and relax on the (very cold) beach. We booked an airbnb in Hove, which ended up being an ideal location right by the sea front. I already can’t wait to go back and spend much longer in what is now one of my favourite places.
We went up in the i360, which is a glass pod that takes you 460ft up on the seafront. It wasn’t the brightest day but we could still see quite far. Lots of the buildings have painted their rooftops for people to see when they go up, which was the highlight for me! It’s right opposite the old west pier, which is all burnt down. Despite it being very cold and very windy, we even saw some surfers out on the water. We sat and watched them for a long time, whilst feeling quite lucky we were dry and wrapped up in our coats!
The lanes were my highlight, especially the north lanes. They are full of independent, quirky shops. It’s easy to lose track of time and spend all day wondering in and out of them. My favourite was Zoingimage, a photo shop that sells film, photography related pins and patches, as well as loads of gorgeous prints of Brighton. I definitely recommend finding this shop if you visit the city.
